Last November, Dr Saeko Yazaki shared her deep knowledge and love of kimono and this was followed by a photo exhibition and talk in March, telling some stories about how Orkney and Japan are connected through Kimono and other ties. This time we are looking at Kimono in a different context.

Claire Wilcox, Professor in Fashion Curation at London College of Fashion, Visiting Scholar, Oxford Centre for Life-Writing and former Senior Curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum will explore how Japanese textiles and fashion met Europe, and what happened when they did.
